2026 has already been a great year for Prime Video subscribers. From The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) and Lucy’s (Ella Purnell) return in Fallout Season 2, and burgeoning acting talent Hero Fiennes Tiffin and directing veteran Guy Ritchie‘s Young Sherlock, to new arrivals such as an adaptation of Scarpetta starring Nicole Kidman and an acclaimed fourth season of Invincible, Prime Video has it all. Another one of the streamer’s big 2026 hits has been the return of Ben Watkins‘ Cross, which premiered with three episodes back on February 11.
After a stellar first season, anticipation was high for Cross Season 2, although few expected it to be this good. The adaptation of James Patterson‘s long-running novel series returned with eight impressive episodes, led by Aldis Hodge‘s quick-witted detective, and joined by a big-name new face in Scream and Five Nights at Freddy’s star Matthew Lillard. Season 2 also stars the likes of Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Juanita Jennings, and Caleb Elijah, with a synopsis reading, “Cross is in pursuit of a ruthless vigilante who is hunting down corrupt billionaire magnates.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, critics have awarded an impressive 95% to Season 2. However, audiences have only given a 55% score, which lands more in line with Nate Richard‘s review for Collider, in which he gave Season 2 a 6/10. “Season 2 is entertainingly paced, but outside its lead, nothing about it allows it to stand out from Prime Video’s similar offerings,” Richard wrote. In the week of its finale, Episode 8, “Quemar,” Cross has now officially passed an impressive streaming milestone, managing over 30 consecutive days on Prime Video in the U.S.

Will ‘Cross’ Return?
In an exciting update for Cross fans, it was revealed on the day of the Season 2 finale that the show had been renewed for Season 3. “From the beginning, Cross has captivated audiences with its layered characters, pulse-pounding suspense, and emotionally grounded storytelling,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, in a statement about the renewal. “Aldis Hodge has delivered a definitive portrayal of Alex Cross, anchoring the series with depth, intelligence, and heart.”
Cross is available to stream on Prime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
