Qatar Cabinet approves draft law on fuel station regulation, strengthening safety, environmental standards and oversight, and refers it to the Shura Council.
Qatar’s Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, approved a draft law regulating fuel filling and storage stations during its weekly meeting on Wednesday, referring it to the Shura Council for further consideration.
Justice Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi said the proposed legislation aims to strengthen environmental protection, public health and safety standards, and establish a clearer regulatory framework for the operation of fuel stations.
The draft law also seeks to define the responsibilities and obligations of station operators, ensuring compliance with technical regulations and oversight mechanisms related to fuel storage and distribution.
The Cabinet reviewed reports related to fuel station oversight as part of broader efforts to enhance regulatory control in the sector.
Separately, ministers approved a draft memorandum of understanding on diplomatic training between Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Syria’s foreign ministry, and reviewed reports on food safety cooperation within the Gulf Cooperation Council and Qatar’s participation in regional labour forums.
