Qatar’s PM-FM condemns Iran’s attacks on Qatar, region in second call with Araghchi since start of war – Doha News

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received a call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday — the second between the two since the start of the war.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, received a phone call on Monday from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday, marking the second call since the start of the war.

According to a statement from Qatar’s foreign ministry, the two officials reviewed the ongoing escalation and its impact on regional security and stability.

During the call, Sheikh Mohammed strongly condemned the continued targeting of Qatar and other countries in the region by Iran, warning that such actions threaten regional security and undermine stability.

He stressed that attacks on states that have remained neutral in the conflict represent a dangerous escalation, while also condemning any targeting of civilian infrastructure.

He called on all parties to adhere to international law and to protect civilians from the consequences of the war.

Sheikh Mohammed underscored that a comprehensive and lasting diplomatic solution remains the only viable path forward, emphasising the need to de-escalate tensions and prevent further deterioration of the situation.

The two officials previously spoke on March 4, when Sheikh Mohammed rejected Iranian claims that missile strikes were not aimed at Qatar.

During that call, Araghchi maintained that the strikes were directed at U.S. interests and not intended to target the Gulf state — an assertion Sheikh Mohammed categorically rejected, citing strikes on civilian and residential areas, including the vicinity of Hamad International Airport and facilities linked to liquified natural gas production.
