Qatar’s Olympic Committee has approved the admission of the Qatar Police Sports Federation and the Qatar Military Sports Association as official members during its 39th General Assembly meeting in Doha.
The meeting, chaired by QOC President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and attended by senior officials and federation representatives, reviewed key developments in the country’s sports sector alongside financial and strategic priorities.
The decision to include the two bodies aims to strengthen coordination between civilian and institutional sports organisations. It is expected to support the exchange of technical and administrative expertise, contribute to the development of qualified sports personnel and improve the overall performance and readiness of national teams.
Sheikh Joaan highlighted the achievements of Qatari national teams across various sports in 2025 and called for intensified preparations ahead of major competitions, including the Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, scheduled for 19 September to 4 October, 2026.
QOC Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain declared that the outcomes of the meeting would support ongoing efforts to advance Qatar’s sports system and strengthen its presence at regional and international levels. He stressed that the upcoming phase is particularly important, especially as Qatar moves forward with its bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036, underscoring the need to maximisee performance in upcoming competitions and build momentum across all levels of sport.
