The makers of Coolie have officially unveiled the trailer date for Rajinikanth starrer, dropping an all-star poster feat. Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and more. Coolie, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, is slated to release in theaters on August 14, 2025. Ahead of the movie hitting big screens, the makers have made it official that its trailer will drop on August 2, 2025.
Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-hyped 171st film Coolie is back in the spotlight — this time for reasons beyond its star power. The trailer announcement poster of the film, unveiled today by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, is now facing backlash online, with several users claiming it bears a complete resemblance to the poster of the Hollywood film Madame Web.
Visual Parallels Raise Eyebrows
Social media has been buzzing with side-by-side comparisons of the two posters. In both, the faces of various protagonists depicted in maze style. The visual tone, mood lighting, and character pose in Coolie’s poster appear nearly identical to the artwork of Madame Web, which featured Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in a similar setting.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Why does Rajinikanth’s Coolie poster look like a repainted version of Madame Web? Can we stop copying Hollywood aesthetics and start creating our own?” Others echoed the sentiment, expressing disappointment that such an iconic star’s project resorted to what they called “borrowed creativity.”
