Samsung Galaxy S26 Charging Speeds Are Stuck in the Stone Age

Samsung just crushed any hopes for faster charging on the Galaxy S26 series. Fresh certification documents confirm the entire lineup will stick with the same sluggish speeds we’ve seen for years. The Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge cap out at 25W charging, while the S26 Ultra stays locked at 45W. That means Samsung hasn’t improved charging speeds across three straight generations.

Chinese certification documents reveal Samsung’s conservative approach continues into 2026. The Galaxy S26 Pro and new S26 Edge will both max out at 25W wired charging. Meanwhile, the S26 Ultra sticks with 45W speeds that first appeared on the Galaxy S22 Ultra back in 2022.

This puts Samsung embarrassingly far behind Chinese competitors. OnePlus 13 delivers 100W SuperVOOC charging that fills batteries in 36 minutes. OPPO Find X7 Ultra hits 100W and charges completely in 29 minutes. Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge technology can juice up phones in just 17 minutes. Samsung’s 45W charging takes over 60 minutes for a complete charge.

Earlier reports suggested the Galaxy S26 Ultra might finally get 60W charging, but those hopes have been dashed. However, recent Galaxy S26 Ultra leaks already hinted at this disappointing news.

Samsung’s charging speeds have remained stagnant since the Note 7 disaster taught them hard lessons about battery safety. However, three years without any improvements feels excessive when Chinese brands demonstrate that fast charging can be both safe and reliable.

Samsung’s charging speeds have disappointed before, continuing a pattern that started with early Galaxy S22 disappointments. Users wanting faster charging will need to invest in quality chargers that maximize whatever speed Samsung offers.
