Samsung replaced the Galaxy S26 Edge with the Galaxy S26+. This decision by the company didn’t come early enough as expected and it made the work on the S26+ not to start on time.

However, Samsung is working hard to achieve this aim. Korean publication, The Elec, revealed some thoughts of insiders, showing last-minute changes in this regard.

It seems the company planned to have the new display panel, initially developed for the S26 Edge, featured on the Plus model. But it was obvious that after the decision, Samsung didn’t have enough time left for the replacement. Thus, the S26+ will feature an almost identical panel as the Galaxy S25+. However, it’s expected to use a new glass.

According to reports, the new display of vanilla Galaxy S26 will measure 6.27”, making it 0.11” bigger than the 6.16” panel on the outgoing Galaxy S25. Probably the S26 Edge panel would have been bigger, as last year’s S25+ and S25 Edge featured 6.7” panels.

More info from the Elec’s report has it that the Galaxy S26 Ultra went into mass production in December 2025. As it stands now, the production targets are 3.6 million Ultras, 700,000 vanilla phones and 600,000 Plus models. Though the targets will surely increase next month as the company plans higher volumes for the vanilla and Plus models respectively.

Meanwhile, Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the date to unveil the Galaxy S26 series. However it’s expected to launch on 25th February. If this happens, it will be launching a month later than the S25 series did last year.
