Taryn Manning is speaking out after a video of her getting into an alleged altercation with a woman went viral.
“I know that violence is never, ever, ever OK,” Manning, 47, said in a Tuesday, March 31, Instagram video. “And there’s a lot of context to that story that, obviously, didn’t make it.”
Manning clarified that the woman in the video is not her girlfriend. The Orange Is the New Black alum accused the woman and another man of vandalizing her car, claiming that they bashed her windshield and slashed her tires.
“It is the most aggressive, violent attack and she’s living in my office because she’s homeless,” Manning claimed. “This is a 36-year-old woman who I’ve tried so long — for 18 years — to try to help.”
On Monday, March 30, TMZ shared a video of Manning and a woman, who the outlet identified as Holly Hartman, getting into a disagreement. In the clip, Manning can be seen threatening to call the police, claiming that the woman is “squatting” in her studio. Near the end of the clip, Manning kicks toward Hartman and appears to lunge at her before the video cuts out.
“I look like this one-sided, violent person. It’s just sad because I’m frustrated. I don’t know why,” Manning continued on Tuesday. “She’s not my family, she’s not my girlfriend, my wife. Why do I have to house this random girl that was a fan that I befriended 18 years ago? It’s too much.”
Manning and Hartman have had their ups and downs over the years. Hartman previously worked as a makeup artist for Manning. However, Manning and Hartman got into a fight in the actress’ apartment in New York City more than a decade ago.
Manning was arrested in 2012 for allegedly punching, scratching, kicking and choking Hartman. She was charged with misdemeanor assault and choking.

“The complainant, Holly, has indicated to the DA’s office that she does not wish to proceed with any criminal prosecution against Taryn,” Manning’s rep said in a statement to E! News at the time. “We believe the situation at hand will be clarified and resolved between the two friends expeditiously.”
Manning was subsequently released without bail and ordered her to stay away from Hartman until her November 2012 court date. The charges against Manning were dropped in 2016 after the case was dismissed by a judge.
Four years later, Hartman filed for a restraining order against Manning which was denied by a judge.
