Plump skin with a healthy dose of volume is a sign of youthful skin that many of us take for granted. As we age, our faces often grow more gaunt, which in turn can make us look older. Many people seek in-office treatments to remedy this, like fat transfers and fillers, but if you want to try your hand at at-home makeup techniques that help add fullness to your face, we asked experts to share their best hacks.

Blush and highlighter hacks to add fullness
To add fullness to a mature face, celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter tends to add blush to the highest point of the cheekbone then cover the entire cheekbone with the product. “A soft shine in the blush is helpful. Use only natural-toned shades that are applied in a circular fashion so that the blush does not also contour the face,” suggests Linter. She notes that Chanel cream-to-powder blush ($55) in Beige Eclatant is excellent for this with application via fingers, brush or sponge. If you use highlighter, Linter says it can be used in a similar way to help widen the face. She recommends using it on temples and on top of cheeks, along with a powder blush.
The “pink corrector facelift”
Makeup artist and mature beauty content creator Erica Taylor compares her hack to “DIY filler using pink correctors.” She explains it “makes your whole face look lifted and fresh without piling on contour.” Depending on your skin tone, grab a pink or peach corrector and apply it in the hollows of your under eyes (both inner and outer corners), tuck it into marionette hollows and sweep it softly under the cheekbones. “Blend it out with a damp sponge or your fingers. The goal is to cancel out shadows and bring light to areas that tend to sink in or drag down the face,” says Taylor. Her personal favorite products for this trick are Kosas Revealer Concealer ($32) and IT Cosmetics Radiant Do It All Concealer ($30).
Nano Contouring
Mature makeup expert Amanda Hill says her favorite tip for adding fullness to the face is nano contouring, “by sculpting areas we might have experienced volume loss with an even finer, more precise application of contour.” To try the trick size down in brushes to be super targeted when applying. “Use a cream contour, leaning into an ashy shadow like tone. The goal is to create a barely there shadow to lift, adding back in the illusion of volume.”
Brow and lash techniques to add the appearance of fullness
“You can try to widen the arch or your brow so that it is wider and not going down from the arch abruptly,” suggests Linter. She also recommends applying lashes to the outer corners of the eyes so they help make the face appear wider.
