Samsung announced that it was discontinuing its Galaxy Z TriFold device in March. This was likely to focus on other foldables and prepare for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide that will launch this Summer.

We thought the chapter had ended until Samsung announced yesterday that the Galaxy Z TriFold would be back in stock (both online and in-store) on Friday, April 10. You can get the Galaxy Z TriFold from Samsung’s 7 Experience Stores or from Samsung.com.

It’s still sold at $2,900. Samsung sees this as a proof-of-concept device, a way of showing they can pull off launching a trifold device like Huawei. Nonetheless, they’re confusing their customers with the sudden announcement, since the issue of discontinuation came from them and wasn’t a rumour.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is in production

Samsung is also working on a new Galaxy Z TriFold. It won’t launch this year, but it’s likely to launch mid-2027. Rumours say Samsung has approved the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 concept which will feature a refined hinge that is lighter and thinner than the original.

The Galaxy Z TriFold successor will be about 9mm thick compared to the 13mm of the current TriFold, making it slimmer. That’s not all that’s new. Samsung is also working on the Galaxy Z Slide, a sliding phone concept that Samsung Display has been showing off for a few years now.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, a wider Galaxy Z Fold, will also compete with the Apple iPhone Fold. Samsung really wants to own the foldable space with different form factors.
