At this point in time, we already know everything there is to know about the Pixel 10a, thanks to a ton of leaks over the past couple of months. With that said however, Google’s latest midrange smartphone is now live, and does pack a lot of familiar features with a few upgrades sprinkled in between.
It’s no secret that the Pixel 10a’s design is pretty much the same as on the 9a, save for some slight differences–these include new “Fog” and “Berry” colour variants, as well as slightly-slimmed down bezels. The display did get a bit of an upgrade with a nigher 3,000 nits of peak brightness (though it stays at 6.3 inches), as well as Gorilla Glass 7i protection which finally replaces the older Gorilla Glass 3 found on several older A-series Pixel phones.
Inside, things remain pretty much the same. You’re still getting the Tensor G4 chip, a deviation from Google’s previous strategy of equipping its A-series phones with the current flagship chip, which in this case would have been the Tensor G5. The battery also retains the 5100mAh capacity, though it does charge much faster at 30W this time around. RAM and storage options also remain the same at 8GB and 128/256GB, which might be a bit disappointing for some users hoping for an upgrade.
Another omission is Google’s Pixelsnap magnetic charging feature, which is present on the mainline Pixel 10 flagship models. It does come pre-loaded with compatibility for AirDrop to Quick Share file transfers, which admittedly is a handy feature to have.
Camera-wise, things have also stayed the same—you’re still getting a dual 48MP main and 13MP ultra-wide sensor combo, with a 13MP selfie camera in front. Other features include IP68 dust and water resistance, seven years of OS and security updates, and Google’s Titan M2 chip for security.
As for pricing and availability, the Pixel 10a is now up for pre-orders starting at $499, which is the same price as the Pixel 9a from last year.
