Whether you’re a premium or a free-to-play player, Panther is a must-have character in P5X. Aside from Joker, she is easily the most powerful Sweeper in the game, capable of wrecking the entire field with ease if properly built. What’s more, she’s one of the 5-Star characters available in the standard pool, and you can get her for free if you complete Lufel’s Plan 1, meaning even free-to-play players can easily obtain her and build a team around her.
We’ll break down everything you need to know about Panther in this build guide so you can get the most out of one of the game’s best units. Speaking of, if you want an overview of what the best units to train are, check out our P5X character tier list.

La Vie en Rose is Panther’s unique mechanic that you have to build up by gaining Passion. Every time Panther uses a skill to inflict Fire damage, she gains 1 Passion. At 4 Passion, she gains La Vie en Rose for 1 turn, which boosts her Attack and powers up all of her skills in various ways. It’s what you need to build up to get the highest damage potential out of Ann.
Build Passion with Crimson Rose
Unless you’re dealing with a single foe (like in a boss encounter), Crimson Rose is the attack you should be relying on most of the time, and regardless, you should always use it on Turn 1 of battle. This is because using it will boost Ann’s attack, making anything you do for the following 2 turns a lot more powerful, and it will easily build Passion stacks to activate La Vie en Rose.
Use Trifire if you need to Burn
While it only targets one enemy at a time, Trifire’s 75% chance to inflict Burn is the best Ann has, so if you want to get that affliction active – perhaps to set up some Technical damage – then you’ll need to use this skill. Plus, if you’re up against a single foe, then this is the best option anyway, as it deals more damage.
Use Falling Sun with La Vie en Rose
Falling Sun plus La Vie en Rose is when Ann hits the hardest. It has a decent base attack, LVeR gives it a 30% boost, and there’s a 30% chance to Burn each foe struck on there for good measure – not that they’re likely to survive this attack though.
Ann is a very versatile unit, so there are a fair few good options on the table here, but here’s the best team composition we like to use when we want to power Panther up as much as possible:
Fox/Soy is there to keep the heat off of Panther with their ability to taunt enemies. Either one works, with Fox having more offensive capabilities while Soy is a better Tank. Moko is there to spam Panther with her Cheering You On ability to increase her attack. Okyann, meanwhile, is there to push even more attack buffs onto Panther, making her hit harder than ever before.
There are different options with Panther, though. You could go for an all-Fire team with Key and Cattle for a 12% Fire damage boost, or throw in Leon instead of Moko for a slightly different set of attack buffs while also adding shields to your repertoire.
The progression for weapons in this game is pretty simple: the more stars a weapon has, the better it is both in terms of stats and its abilities, so you should always try and pull the best weapon possible when building a character. Here are the stats and effects of all of Panther’s weapons:
As we explain in our guide to the best Revelation Cards for each character in P5X, the only combination that’s any good to Panther is Strike & Acceptance. Strife gives a flat 10% boost to Fire damage, then a 15% boost to attack, topping it off with a further 15% increase to attack if the foe is weak to Fire. Putting Acceptance on top increases Ann’s attack by 8% for each foe on the field, which fits perfectly with her role as a Sweeper.
