If you’re looking for an affordable way to transform your older TV hardware into a smart content streaming hub, then you’re in luck—Xiaomi has just unveiled its second-generation TV Stick HD model, which covers all the basics that you’d need from a plug-and-play streaming setup.
The 2nd-gen TV Stick HD runs on Google TV, and will come preloaded with major content providers and platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube to name a few, as well as a few exclusive software features from Xiaomi. Inside, the TV Stick HD features 8GB of internal storage, as well as 1GB of RAM which should keep things relatively smooth. For connectivity, you’re getting support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.

While it does come with HDR10+ support, there are some caveats, such as a limited output resolution of 1080p at 60fps (sorry 4K lovers); additionally, the stick itself lacks USB-C compatibility, and instead features a rather archaic micro-USB port for physical connectivity. With all that said however, Xiaomi is selling it for a pretty low price of just 50 EUR, which does make sense when you consider its limitations.
