The Haramain High Speed Railway has announced a significant expansion of its operational capacity for the upcoming Ramadan 1447 AH season, preparing to serve the millions of pilgrims expected to perform Umrah.
A 7% increase in services compared to the previous year.
According to official data comparing the last two Ramadan seasons, the number of trips will rise from 3,410 in Ramadan 1446 AH to 3,662 trips in the upcoming season.
Correspondingly, the total available seats will increase from 1.6 million to 1.7 million seats, adding more than 100,000 seats to accommodate the surge in passenger demand.
The 453-kilometer electric railway network operates at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour, connecting key destinations including the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, with stops at Jeddah Station, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City.
Each of the 35 trains in the fleet has a capacity of 417 seats.
The increased service frequency and seat availability will ease congestion.
