ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th Apr, 2026) The 2nd day of the year’s second anti-polio campaign in the Federal capital has been completed, with 63 percent of the total target achieved and 282,868 children vaccinated in two days.

Officials reviewed progress and addressed key issues during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.

The four-day campaign is underway across the city to ensure that children receive polio drops. According to officials, teams working in the field reached more than half of the planned target within the first two days. Health workers continued door-to-door visits to cover as many children as possible.

A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad to assess the performance of polio teams. The meeting examined the overall progress and discussed challenges faced by workers during the campaign. Officials focused on improving coordination and ensuring that remaining targets are achieved within the set timeline.

Security arrangements for polio teams were also discussed in detail. Authorities reviewed measures to ensure the safety of workers deployed in different areas. Field reports were shared to identify gaps and take steps for smooth operations during the remaining days of the campaign.

The meeting also included a briefing on refusal cases. Officials reported that a total of 550 refusal cases were recorded in the first two days. These cases involve families who initially declined to allow vaccination. Authorities informed the meeting that efforts were made to resolve these cases on priority, and children in such households were later administered polio drops.

Participants of the meeting included the Additional Deputy Commissioner East, Assistant Commissioners, and health department officials. They shared updates from their respective areas and highlighted steps taken to improve outreach.

The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad called for continued efforts to complete the campaign successfully. Citizens were urged to cooperate with polio teams and ensure that their children receive the vaccine. Officials emphasized that community support is necessary to achieve full coverage and protect children from polio.

The campaign will continue for the remaining two days, with teams working to meet the overall target and reach every eligible child in the federal capital.
