In Islam, modesty (haya) and protective jealousy (gheerah) are essential qualities of a believer. The concept of a “Dayooth” refers to a man who lacks this sense of protective concern over his family. This article explains who a Dayooth is, its meaning in Islam, and why it is strongly warned against.
Guys, what are you doing on social media?? How can you do such things, really I wonder? Where is your Gheerah? Where is your Haya? Okay let me remind all of you about Ad Dayooth.
Who is a Dayooth (Ad-Dayooth)?
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: Ad-Dayooth will not enter Jannah.
He is a man who does not have protective jealousy over his mahram women such as his mother, sister, wife, and daughter.
He does not even mind if his mahram women are in proper hijab or not, he does not mind if they have boyfriends etc, he does not mind to show them in public without their hijab, he does not mind to show his mahram women to social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.
He does not even mind if they are going to haram parties and functions where there are mix gatherings. Rather he likes it if his mahram women dress like naked and walk with him.
He himself uploads their vulgar pictures on social media. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.
I request all of you to do not be like Ad-Dayooth and have a protective jealousy over your women folk.
Could you be a Dayooth?
In simple terms, a Dayooth refers to a man who. lacks protective jealousy (gheerah) over his family.
But Islam explains “ad-dayooth” as a man who lacks protective jealousy (gheerah) on different levels.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Ad-dayooth – la’ yad khullul janna
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The ad-dayooth will not enter Jannah, so where will they go? In Hell.
So, who are the ad-dayooth? Ad-dayooth is a man who:
✦ Allows his wife/sister/daughter to go out without proper hijab.
Meaning: Just because she is wearing a headscarf doesn’t mean she is in “hijab”.
If the skin of her feet is showing, or she’s wearing a half-sleeve T-shirt, or the shape of her body is visible, or you can tell her bra size, then she is not wearing proper hijab.
Because khimar = tudung, and hijab has conditions.
So, wearing a tudung with tight clothes means you are not in proper hijab.
✦ She should not expose the skin of her feet.
Wearing a headscarf with skinny jeans/leggings and a tight T-shirt is not hijab.
The man who allows this is a dayooth. This could be your sister, your wife or your daughter.
Are you not jealous that men look at these women up and down, stripping them with their eyes?
You are allowing these men to have desires toward them indirectly by allowing these women
– whom you are responsible for – to do whatever they want.
If you think this is “extreme”, then you don’t know the Quran. Read the tafseer of Surah Nisa before commenting.
✦ Men are leaders of women.
Now, its the other way around.
The husband has his pants way past his ankles, while the wife is behind him all dolled up – high heels, pushing her butt out, wearing a corset to push her chest out.
Bro, what can you not see?
I can see everything.
And if you think that a woman who shows the skin of her feet is wearing hijab, then -like I said – read the Quran in a language you understand.
✦ Free Mixing
Ad-dayooth is a man who does not have a problem with his wife, sister, or daughter sitting with non-mahram men, shaking hands with them, and freely mixing.
✦ The ad-dayooth is a man who follows his wife’s orders over the Prophet’s (ﷺ) commands.
For Example: “Bro, why do you shave?”
Answer: “My wife doesn’t like a beard.”
Bro, Allah, through Jibril, through Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) commanded us to do this. But, there is always an excuse — this is a man who lives to please his wife over Allah.
✦ RIBA: One of the main reasons men fall into riba is because of pressure from their wives.
“Honey, when will we get a better car? My brother/sister/neighbour/colleague is driving an Accord, Camry, Alphard, BMW.”
You know its haram, but she convinces you to do it because you love her — forgetting that on the Day of Judgement, she will run away from you.
Be responsible. Do you think no one is looking at your wife, sister, or daughter when they go out?
Either you are unaware, or you are ignoring the reality.
✦ The modesty of our women fades when men lose their gheerah.
Never marry a man who will not enter Jannah.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “The Dayooth will not enter Jannah.”
So, who is a Dayooth?
- He is a man who has no protective jealousy over his mahram (mother, sister, wife, etc.).
- He is a man who shows off his wife — her beauty and style — in front of other men.
- He is the one who does not protect her from the eager eyes of strangers. (non-mahrams)
- He allows his wife to go out wearing perfume, makeup, and attractive clothing, as if she is on display.
- He is pleased by the admiring glances of other men toward his wife or sisters.
- He allows his sister or daughter to go out without proper hijab or in tight clothing.
- He knows his sister or daughter is in a haram relationship but does not care.
- He has no protective jealousy and allows her to display her beauty to others.
So, dear sister, never marry a Dayooth.
Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhe wasallam) said:
“Three people will not enter paradise, and Allaah will not look to them on the Day of Judgement: the one who is disobedient to his parents, the woman who imitates men and the ad-Dayooth.”

Ad-Dayooth is the man who permits women for whom he is responsible (eg: mother, wife, sister etc.) to engage in illicit relations, or to display their beauty to strange men, thereby stimulating their sexual desires.
Dear brothers, such a person will not enter Jannah if he allows his wife or mahram women to display themselves publicly.
Do not be a Dayooth. Have protective jealousy (gheerah) over your women. What has happened to your gheerah?
A man who allows his wife to go out without proper hijab or to post her pictures on social media for display is falling into this. Protect yourselves, brothers.
