Farhan Akhtar Says Don 3 Is Still An Incredible Story He Wants To Tell Despite Delays

Farhan Akhtar is not ready to let Don 3 slip away. Even as the film has run into stops and starts, the actor filmmaker has now made it clear that the next chapter in the franchise still occupies an important place in his creative plans.

His latest remarks arrive at a crucial time for the project, especially after Ranveer Singh exited the film. For a franchise that has long carried cult appeal and star power in equal measure, Akhtar’s words feel less like routine reassurance and more like a filmmaker publicly holding on to a story he still believes deserves the big screen.

Farhan Akhtar Reaffirms His Intent To Make Don 3

Speaking in a recent conversation, Akhtar reflected on the realities of filmmaking and how quickly plans can change. “Nothing can be taken for granted till you actually have it on film,” he said, adding that the last couple of years had taught him to “expect the unexpected.”

What stood out, however, was not the caution but the conviction. Akhtar described Don 3 as one of the “incredible stories” he wants to tell, making it clear that the film remains very much alive in his mind despite the obstacles that have slowed its progress.

That statement carries particular weight because Don 3 has been one of the most closely watched Hindi film projects since Akhtar announced a new chapter in the franchise, with Ranveer Singh stepping into the world of Don. The project’s momentum may have shifted, but Akhtar’s latest comments suggest the core creative impulse behind it has not.

He also spoke about trusting the work and the people who know his process best. “I have worked with enough people who know what kind of person I am, and what I bring to the table every single time I go into work, and that’s what is going to sail me through,” he said. It is the kind of measured confidence that keeps attention firmly on what he chooses to make next.

Why Don 3 Looms Large In Farhan Akhtar’S Next Chapter

The reason Don 3 continues to command this much interest is tied closely to Akhtar’s own creative timeline. As an actor, he was last seen in 120 Bahadur, released theatrically in November 2025, a war drama directed by Razneesh Ghai in which he played Major Shaitan Singh. Before that came Toofaan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s sports drama, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2021 and co-starred Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal.

That recent acting run has kept Akhtar visible, but his directorial return remains the bigger point of intrigue. His last released feature as director was Don 2 in 2011, which is precisely why Don 3 carries unusual weight within his filmography. It is not just another sequel attached to a known brand, but the project most closely linked to his comeback behind the camera.

He is also attached to Jee Le Zaraa, the road trip drama announced with Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, though the film does not yet have a confirmed release date. For now, Akhtar’s clearest creative signal is the one he has sent on Don 3: the story still matters to him, and he still wants to tell it.
