Birkenstock, the German brand renowned for footwear, sleep systems, and natural cosmetics, extends its holistic approach to foot care by launching its first vegan, plant‑based nail polish collection. Under the Care Essentials label, the glossy polishes deliver a vibrant, stylish accent that complements Birkenstock’s iconic sandals.
The nail polish line avoids 23 ingredients often considered controversial or undesirable, earning its “23‑free” label. Wherever possible, Birkenstock uses natural components such as sugar beet and sugar cane. The collection offers five shades—Eggshell, Light Rose, Crocus, Surf Green, and Red, along with a Top Coat, a Base Coat, and a remover enriched with nourishing sweet almond oil. Produced entirely in Europe, each product retails for €16.
From its headquarters in Linz am Rhein, Birkenstock oversees a global team of around 6,200 employees and operates sales offices spanning continents—from the United States and Canada to Brazil, Japan, South Korea, and beyond. In Italy, the brand partners with NaturalLook, founded in Bolzano in 1974, to bring its products to market. Staying true to its heritage, Birkenstock produces more than 95% of its collections in Germany and secures over 90% of its materials from European sources.
Birkenstock reported an 18% increase in sales, excluding currency effects, reaching €402 million in the first quarter of the current financial year ending 31 December 2025. This result surpassed the group’s forecast of up to 15% growth. At constant exchange rates, sales rose by 14% in the Americas, 17% across EMEA, and an impressive 37% in Asia‑Pacific.

During the quarter, Birkenstock’s B2B division recorded 24% growth at constant exchange rates, while direct‑to‑consumer sales rose by 12%. The company invested around 38 million euros in the period, with nearly half directed toward acquiring a new manufacturing facility in eastern Germany.

For the full 2025 financial year, which ended on 30 September 2025, the company reported record revenues of €2.1 billion.
From its iconic sandals to sleep systems and now nail polish, Birkenstock is steadily evolving into a holistic lifestyle brand. The company’s expansion reflects a broader vision to care for the body from head to toe, blending tradition with modern innovation. With record sales in 2025 and bold growth targets ahead, Birkenstock is charting a path that goes beyond fashion, positioning itself as a symbol of conscious living and timeless design.
