It’s been a while now since the initial launch of Google’s big Quick Share update, which finally bridged the gap between Android and iOS file sharing. Following the arrival of the feature for select Pixel and Samsung phones, it looks like more phone brands will soon get the much-awaited update in the coming months.
More specifically, Google recently confirmed that it’s expanding the feature to more partners including OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi and HONOR throughout 2026. With that said, users whose phones aren’t supported will be able to access a workaround using cloud connectivity. As per Google:
If you don’t have a compatible device, you can use Quick Share on any Android phone to generate a QR code, which will let you instantly share with iOS devices via the cloud. This feature starts rolling out to all Android phones today and will be fully available within the next month. Soon, we’ll also make Quick Share available inside some of your favorite apps, including WhatsApp.
Compared to other file-sharing solutions for Android and iOS which often require workarounds or third-party apps, Quick Share is able to connect directly and send files to iOS devices within Airdrop, eliminating the need for cumbersome steps.
