JetBrains has officially announced the launch of its Course Creators Program, a new initiative designed to integrate online programming education directly into professional development environments. This program aims to address a persistent “major gap” in the industry: students often learn through videos and browser-based exercises but lack exposure to the actual tools used in professional software development roles.

The program is specifically tailored for independent educators and course creators on platforms such as Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, and Pluralsight. By utilizing the JetBrains Academy plugin, creators can now move the practical portions of their curriculum into JetBrains IDEs. This shift allows students to write real code, run and debug programs, and build essential skills within professional environments—experiences that are increasingly vital as AI shifts the focus toward practical developer skills.

For creators already using Coursera, JetBrains offers direct integration, allowing students to open projects in the IDE with a single click. To support a wider range of educators, the program provides product access, technical guidance, and promotional support. Participation is open to those who publish technical courses on major platforms or run their own educational sites.

Even for those not ready for full integration, JetBrains is offering alternative collaboration paths. This includes pointing students toward free IDEs for non-commercial use or providing educational license coupons for tools like IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm. JetBrains believes that programming education should feel closer to real-world development from day one, helping students prepare for internships and full-time developer roles.
