ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd May, 2026) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday said that Pakistan and Argentina enjoy a relationship built on mutual respect, goodwill, and shared aspirations.
“Although our countries are geographically distant, our friendship has continued to grow through cooperation in trade, diplomacy, agriculture, science, culture, and people-to-people ties,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at an event organized to mark the National Day of the Argentine Republic.
He said, “It is a great honour to join you in celebrating the National Day of the Argentine Republic. We are also proud that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Argentina. This important milestone is a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation that our two countries have enjoyed over the decades.”
On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, he extended warm congratulations to the Government and people of Argentina on this important occasion.
He said Argentina’s National Day is a moment of pride that reminds the world of the courage and determination of the Argentine people in shaping their nation’s destiny.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that during the last year, Pakistan’s exports to Argentina grew by more than 50 percent, describing it as a remarkable achievement and a clear indication of the untapped potential between the two economies.
He said the growth reflects the confidence of the business communities of both countries and the opportunities that exist in textiles, sports goods, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, agricultural products, information technology, and other emerging sectors.
The minister said the government of Pakistan remains committed to further strengthening the bilateral partnership.
“We believe that Pakistan and Argentina can work together to expand trade, encourage investment, promote innovation, and build stronger institutional linkages. Our two countries also share an interest in food security, climate resilience, sustainable development, and inclusive growth — areas where deeper cooperation can benefit both our peoples,” he added.
The minister further said that as members of the international community, Pakistan and Argentina have consistently supported dialogue, multilateralism, and respect for international law.
He said Pakistan values Argentina’s constructive role in global affairs and looks forward to continued cooperation in international forums.
Highlighting cultural ties, he said Argentina’s culture has touched hearts across the world, particularly through football. He added that in Pakistan, as in Argentina, football is followed with great passion and emotion.
Generations of Pakistanis, he said, have admired Argentina’s footballing spirit, from the genius and charisma of Diego Maradona to the grace, humility, and brilliance of Lionel Messi.
“On this happy occasion, we also celebrate the richness of Argentine culture — its music, literature, cuisine, sport, and the warmth of its people,” he said.
He conveyed Pakistan’s sincere congratulations to the people of Argentina and expressed hope that the friendship between Pakistan and Argentina would continue to flourish in the years ahead.
