Chinese media has been invited to preview Azur Promilia, the upcoming creature collection RPG from Manjuu. The resulting previews contain new images from the anime gacha title, including close-ups of character animations, new combat footage, and more. There is also confirmation that the game will include a skip button, i.e. the ability to skip over dialog and progress through the game at a faster rate.

Overall, the previews seem to have a positive tone with much praise for the game’s style of animation as well as character and creature design.

Characters do look very expressive on the footage available on sites like CGames, with facial expressions, camera movements, and even small details like light moving on eyes all looking exquisite. And, yes, there is a good amount of jiggling going on — just as you’d expect from the makers of Azur Lane.

Impressions appear to be more mixed in regards to combat mechanics. It seems like the game hasn’t really found what it wants to be: A title with in-depth and mechanically challenging battles or a title with more casual and easy-to-understand combat. At the moment, it’s a bit all over the place and leaning towards the latter. Combat animations and the integration of the Kibo – the creatures you can catch – are heralded as being strong.

There’s not too much detail on the base-building aspect in the previews, perhaps because that’s not as prevalent an aspect in the early game. Aside from helping with production in the base and combat, the Kibo play a role in exploration by helping solve elemental puzzles, which have been described as being relatively straightforward. Players can also ride and fly on some Kibo.

It seems like all the available Kibo have evolutions, though, with the highest level ones being available in the open world as boss enemies.

There will also be a PvP game mode in which players can let their Kibo fight each other, which appears to include some form of deck building — at least cards are prominently featured in the UI.

We are bound to get more information about Azur Promilia later this year, as Manjuu will be at Tokyo Game Show 2025. The game has been announced for PC, PS5, iOS, and Android, but has no release date yet.
