Not to be confused with the 1985 film or the 2022 Polish film of the same name, Hell Hole is a 2024 horror film directed by Toby Poser and John Adams, which they co-wrote with Lulu Adams. The movie follows an American-led fracking crew working in the desolate Serbian wilderness, where they uncover a living French soldier frozen in time from the Napoleonic Era hosting a dormant parasitic monster that begins to look for a new host. The film stars Olivera Perunicic, Bruno Veljanovski, Maximum Portman, Anders Hove, and Boris Lukman, along with the directors, Poser and Adams, in various roles. Hell Hole premiered at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival, where it earned highly positive reviews. Critics have praised the filmmaking duo’s direction and storytelling, as well as the great practical effects. With body horror, gore, and monstrous parasitic creatures, Hell Hole delivers all the elements of a classic monster horror film while also touching upon the horrors of biological and environmental exploitation.
