When exploring the land of Ezo in Ghost of Yotei, you will eventually come across a series of Duelling Trees. There are six in total, and you might not understand their purpose at first. The name is a hint, of course, but the truth is a bit more complicated. There’s a series of five wandering ronin who consider themselves disciples of Takezo the Unrivaled, and you’ll find each at the Duelling Trees of Ezo. Defeat them all, and the true Takezo will reveal himself to you.
Below we’re listing all of the Duelling Tree locations in the game, and the order you should use to find and defeat each of the ronin. Once you’ve done with these Duelling Trees, make sure to use our best build for Takezo the Unrivaled, as he’s Ghost of Yotei’s toughest boss.
Found on the hill Southwest of Atsu’s Home, South of the Plum Crane Sumi-e.
Near the entrance of the Mount Yotei Shrine Climb, West of Master Heijiro’s Garden.
In the Northwest corner of the Tokachi Range, you’ll need to go through the Amber Respite Shrine Climb to find it.
In the Tomamu Marshlands, near the Season’s Colours Sumi-e and the Altar of Reflection, South of Marshland Homestead.
Found in the Northeast corner of Tokachi Range, North of the Green Dye House or East of Boar’s Eye Cave and the Suspicious Thicket.
Found on the South coast of the Yotei Grasslands, Southwest of Lake Kuttara and South of the Weary Traveller’s Camp. Takezo will introduce himself here only after you defeat ronin at all of the other Duelling Trees.
