Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is out now, bringing fantastic recreations of a bunch of levels from two of the best games in the series’ history — as well as a few new levels exclusive to this game. Each level is filled with a series of challenges to complete and a few secrets hidden away for players to find.
The third level of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 in the remake is Suburbia, which is halfway in size between the Foundry and Canada stages. Its challenges are all fairly straightforward, but there’s a greater degree of verticality, which could see some tight runs on the default 2-minute timer.
That’s why we’ve put together this guide for all the Suburbia challenges in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, as well as how to get the secret tape and other collectibles in the level.
There are a number of challenges that need little explanation in Suburbia and most stages. Among them are the high score challenges – simply perform tricks and combos to get to the score threshold – and SKATE letter collection, which should be fairly obvious to complete. Most SKATE letters are readily visible from the start of the level, and once you’ve found the S it should be a straight shot to the rest of them.
Nosegrab Between the Ramps
In front of the big haunted mansion in Suburbia is a small skatepark with wooden ramps. You’ll need to do a transfer between two of the quarterpipes here, performing a nosegrab (up + grab button) while you do so. It’s a bit of a tight jump, and you might need to upgrade your speed, ollie, or airtime stats to make it, but it’s not too difficult.
Help the Thin Man
There’s a weak, thin man in front of the garage of the haunted mansion who needs your help getting past some wooden boards blocking the garage. Thankfully it’s pretty easy to help him out, you just need an axe.
To get the axe, head over to the construction site – you’ll be able to spot it easily thanks to its bare wooden frames – and head through the middle of a house in construction to find the axe. Bring it back to the thin man, and then stare on in horror at one of the strangest scenes in the game.
Restore Power to the Dish
Restoring power to the dish is fairly straightforward, but you’ll need good grinding balance to actually pull it off. Behind some of the houses are ramps that allow you to get onto the rooftops, and in between those rooftops are powerlines.
Some of the powerlines, as you’ll be able to see, have branches on top of them. You need to grind across these lines to knock the branches down — there are two lines with branches on them, and each line has two branches to knock off. It’s a decent amount of grinding, so it can be tricky, but a few upgrades to your grind balance stat – or toggling on the game mod for it – will get you there easily.
Squash 5 Pumpkins
Finally, the easiest of the challenges in Suburbia, is to squash 5 pumpkins. These are large, glowing jack-o-lanterns scattered throughout the world, and they’re quite easy to find. A couple are in front of houses, one is in the garden of the haunted mansion, and another is atop a fence next to an empty in-ground pool. It really is very straightforward.
Getting the secret tape in Suburbia requires that you complete the “Help the Thin Man” challenge first, as you’ll need access to the haunted mansion. Head through the garage and into the backyard of the mansion, then take the big ramp up into the mansion’s second floor. Smash through the window on the other side, then briefly grind along a small length of rail to grab the secret tape.
The Iron Galaxy logo in Suburbia also requires access to the haunted mansion. When you enter the mansion’s backyard, there’s a halfpipe to your left that you can actually use to do a series of transfers upwards, towards the roof. Once you’re there, the Iron Galaxy logo is plain to see and very easy to get — just ease up on your speed a bit, since it’s easy to overshoot and go flying off into the distance.
The secret deck in Suburbia is one of the least hidden secret decks in the game, appearing at the top of a quarterpipe on the second floor of the unfinished house. Just use the side ramps to get onto the second floor, then launch yourself up the quarterpipe to easily grab the secret deck.
