Google has been working on improving the screenshot and screen recording experience for Android users. Its Android 17 Beta 3 includes features like partial screen recording and partial screenshots. In the latest Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 release, the partial screenshot feature is enabled by default, but it requires a large-screen device.

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 now features a screen recording toolbar with screenshot tools. For screenshots, the screen recording toolbar offers three options: take a screenshot of the selected window in split-screen mode, take a screenshot of the selected area, and take a screenshot of the entire screen.
ByThe first option can be used in App Bubbles to capture only the selection in the bubble. It’s expected to also work for apps opened in windows in Aluminium OS.
The partial screen recording feature isn’t enabled by default though. Users can only screen record an active window or the whole screen with the screen recording toolbar. Future releases may allow the feature to be enabled by default.
