Have I gotten lazier?
I remember what it was like 15 years ago.
Then, I started my career as a technology consultant. It was exciting.
Clients had complex requirements. We worked long hours to build and customize our software to meet their needs.
Wooing new clients requires extensive efforts, too.
Proof-of-concepts. Pilots. Solution assessments. Product demonstrations. Data integrations. Deck with 100+ slides. Efficiency gains. Productivity gains. Site visits. Digital to physical mapping.
I remember flying to 3 cities on the same day once. Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong. Hong Kong to Taipei. 3 different clients.
3 different pitches.
I confused my prospects. I also confused myself. And I appeared confident despite my state of confusion. Nobody knew what I was talking about. They assumed I knew what I was talking about. Haha, well.
That said… I wonder at times.
Do I still have the stamina to do what I did 15 years ago?
