While numerous rumours had already been circulating, the publishers have officially confirmed the title through social media on July 22, and now its first-ever trailer is out.

The hype for Battlefield 6 is already through the roof, and now we can add the key details that the trailer revealed, and collate the latest news and leaks that have surfaced.

What is Battlefield 6?

Battlefield 6 is the latest entry in the Battlefield series, an FPS game known for its military-themed, large-scale online multiplayer battles. Set in a modern world, the trailer shared on Battlefield’s YouTube channel gives us a glimpse at its single-player campaign, without revealing much.

This time, the developers’ goal is to learn from the mistakes they made with Battlefield 2042, while setting their sights on getting 100 million players after Battlefield 6’s launch.

When is Battlefield 6 out?

According to trusted dataminer billbil-kun, the Battlefield 6 release date could be October 10; however, an official announcement has yet to confirm this at the time of writing.

This date aligns with previous Battlefield launch windows, which adds credibility to the leak. Moreover, EA has already confirmed that they are planning the release during fiscal year 2026, which falls within the timeframe of April 2025 to March 2026.

In addition to this, an open beta will reportedly be held in August, as spotted by several leakers and fans on the EA App.

The debut Battlefield 6 trailer, revealed on July 24, shared a first look at its single-player campaign, which will also lay the groundwork for its multiplayer mode. The story focuses on a full-blown war between Pax Armata, a private military corporation made up of former NATO members, and the United States Army in New York.

We also saw walls and buildings being destroyed, which is something that players will be able to do to get an advantage, and they’ll also be able to bring vehicles such as tanks and fighter jets into the battle.

Apart from this, the developers have focused on improving player movement and showcasing recoil more accurately.

Battlefield 6 will also reintroduce the classic 64-player BF multiplayer maps, along with the traditional class system featuring Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes, which was also teased in the reveal trailer’s cover image.

On the Battlefield 6 open beta, eligible players will be able to test out a class-specific weapon playlist in it, as confirmed by EA.

That said, a lot of the Battlefield 6 gameplay details are still under wraps; however, EA and DICE have announced a massive multiplayer reveal event for Battlefield 6, featuring devs from Battlefield Studios.

It will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch on July 31 at 7:30 PM BST / 11:30 AM PDT / 2:30 PM EDT, which will give players an in-depth look at the game’s multiplayer features.

Moreover, the developers will also unveil new maps and modes, along with the returning ones that will be a part of the game at launch.

After the livestream, multiple popular streamers will stream Battlefield 6’s gameplay on their channels. Offline events will also be held the same day in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, and London, with the next event in Hong Kong on August 2.

Price and editions

According to billbil-kun’s report, which was first spotted by Insider Gaming, Battlefield 6 will have two editions — Standard and Phantom.

The Standard Edition will cost €69.99 (~£60.68), while the Phantom Edition can be purchased for €79.99 (~£69.35). It is unclear whether access to the open beta will require players to pre-order the game or if they will have to send in an application for it.

Battlefield 6 platforms

Battlefield 6 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This means, like multiple other titles such as Astro Bot and Stellar Blade, the game will not be available on last-gen consoles, as the developers will only be focusing on current-gen hardware.

Conclusion

Battlefield 6 is definitely one of the most anticipated releases of 2025, with its trailer announcement alone crossing six million impressions on X. Also, according to multiple leaks, it seems like it won’t be long before players experience the game at a larger scale through an open beta test.

That said, it would be interesting to see if DICE and EA can rebound after the criticism they faced for Battlefield 2042. However, based on the gameplay footage and sneak peeks available so far, the future looks promising.
