Berlin-based studio Flamehead Games announces Cards & Cannons, anew fantasy game on Steamthat aims to shake up the rules of the tower defense genre.
The highlight: The game world and enemy spawners aren’t predetermined, but are built and placed by the player—promising greater flexibility.
A card system ensures greater variety and depth: buildings, upgrades, and spells can be used and combined in countless ways within the player’s deck.
The project was created by a six-person indie team and was nominated for the Best Prototype award in the Newcomer category at the 2026 German Computer Game Awards.
“The game captivates with its charm, humor, and imagination, and all of this fits well with a well-executed art style, in which cartoon visuals and shaders elegantly round out the overall package,” concluded the jury.
