Binging through a TV series can be a chore, especially if you pick a lengthier show like One Piece or NCIS. There are, however, shows on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, which you can watch over the course of one weekend — or even in a single day. Occasionally, a good series will come along that doesn’t even take one evening to watch from start to finish. Disney+ has one such show available, and it’s a perfect little binge for lifelong Pixar fans.
Back in 2021, Pixar and Disney+ released the series Dug Days, which is a set of short stories about the beloved dog from Pixar’s Oscar-winning 2009 film Up. The shorts come in at around 10 minutes each, much longer than most other similarly formatted titles on Disney+, but there are only five of them in the entire series. If you’re needing a soft and funny series to put a smile on your face, Dug Days is your answer, and the binge couldn’t be easier.
Continuing ‘Up’ With ‘Dug Days’
While the Up movie followed new friends Carl and Russell, the spin-off is all about the scene-stealing canine sidekick they met on their adventure. Dug, like all the other dogs at Paradise Falls, has a collar that allows him to speak to humans, but he isn’t quite as intense as his counterparts. Dug’s hilarious, matter-of-fact narration of the doggy brain was easily one of the most memorable elements of Up, and it provided the basis for the Dug Days series.
Dug Days follows Dug after the events of Up, while he’s living with Carl in that iconic yellow house from the film. Both Carl and Russell appear in the series, interacting with Dug as he explores the wild and wonderful life of an everyday domestic dog. The episodes see Dug have hilarious reactions to new smells, his neighbors, and the flowers in Carl’s backyard, as well as dealing with some of the tougher aspects of his canine existence.

Pixar’s Other Great TV Binges
Dug Days is as quick a binge as you’ll find for something as high quality as Pixar’s Up offshoot, but the legendary animation studio has some other shows that are great for watching over the course of a weekend. Dream Productions is a four-episode series based on the world of Inside Out, set entirely inside Riley’s mind (just like the movies). While some of the beloved emotions return, the focus of the series is on those working inside the Dream Productions department, which is in charge of creating and playing the dreams Riley sees when she sleeps at night. Unlike Dug Days, Dream Productions is formatted more like a half-hour TV show.
The best of Pixar’s TV ventures is also the only one that’s an original idea and not tied to one of the studio’s films. Win or Lose is Pixar’s first and only original series to-date, and it follows the events leading up to the championship game for a middle school softball team. What makes this show so unique is its structure, giving you most of the overarching story up-front, before taking you back to see it all from the perspectives of other main characters. Each episode in the eight-part series is told from the perspective of a different character, so by the end of the show, we get a very complete and well-rounded view of the team and their road to the championship. Like Dream Productions, Win or Lose is also closer to the traditional half-hour TV structure.
You can’t go wrong with any of Pixar’s TV titles, especially if you need something light and enjoyable for an evening or weekend on the couch.
