We are officially closer to the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI than ever before, even taking into account the two previously scheduled release dates that Rockstar so brutally decided to delay. As such, excitement is building and fans finally feel like they’re closing in on what could be one of the biggest and best games of all time.
Though it will have a major task in living up to those expectations, it’s basically guaranteed to be a commercial success at this point regardless, with millions of players waiting in the wings to buy it as soon as it becomes available. Now, news has emerged about the next step in that process, and fans are very excited about what it could all mean.
In case you missed it, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed that they are scheduling their next earnings call for May 21. If we get past that without confirmation of another delay, then we should be have a free and clear runway to the final release of the game.
Over on Reddit, that revelation left players wondering if they would also open up pre-orders for the game at around the same time, all being well, and there were plenty of opinions on what that might look like if they do.
“Surely they’re going to want to announce pre-order figures at this one. I’m guessing T3 + pre-orders going live maybe a week before, sometime between the 12th to 14th,” one comment said.
“Trailer 3 + Preorders will come likely a week before the conference call. That way the CEO can provide updates on trailer 3 engagement along with preorder data,” another added.
“It’s releasing May 5th in my opinion. I think they will anounce trailer 3’s release date next week aswell as pre orders, and since a lot of people get paid in the end of the month, people that just got paid in April would have money to pre-order the game, so when the earnings call comes they can say to the investors ‘look how much money we’ve made just from pre-orders’,” a third contested.
Whatever the case does finally end up being, next month is going to be absolutely huge for GTA fans the world over. A third delay would be unprecedented for the developer across their entire history (at least publically), and to break that line on GTA VI would be a genuinely worrying moment. That said, if they stick with the current date, the brakes on the hype train can come all the way off and fans can really start letting themselves get excited.
