Honor is preparing to launch its next-gen foldable phone, the Magic V2 Flip, and it’s already making headlines. The phone just received certification in China, revealing most of its key details. With a heavy focus on battery life and quick charging, it aims to become the industry leader in the clamshell foldable phone market.

Big Battery, Fast Charging

One of the high points of the Magic V2 Flip is its 5,370mAh battery. This is currently the largest battery capacity used in any flip design foldable phone. Honor has managed to stuff so much power within such a small build to provide all-day use.

The phone supports 80W fast charging, as revealed by documents filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT). But based on previous devices, the speed of charging in actual usage may be limited to 66W. This would still see the phone lead most of its competition even with this.

Dual Display Design

The Magic V2 Flip also comes with a 6.8-inch Full HD+ foldable OLED screen, which supports LTPO technology. The display promises vibrant colors and smooth performance. Outside this, there is a 4-inch outer display. The smaller display will likely be used for notifications, quick replies, and basic activities, keeping the phone from needing to be opened for all activities.

Solid Performance Expected

Honor hasn’t officially confirmed the processor yet, but rumors suggest it will be a Snapdragon 8 series chip. Instead of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 or something different could be chosen. This could help with keeping the performance strong while providing better cost-effectiveness.

Advanced Camera System

The main camera will come with a 50-megapixel sensor that includes optical image stabilization (OIS). With a large 1/1.5-inch sensor, users can expect crisp, clear photos even in the night. Information on video features has not been official yet, but the camera setup looks promising.

Looking Out for the Competition

The Magic V2 Flip will compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Xiaomi Mix Flip 2. Its better battery and charging will be a selling point, perhaps. The phone will launch officially in August, another highlight for Honor in the foldable phone market.
