HONOR has released a striking new promotional video for its recently unveiled Magic V5 foldable smartphone, putting the device through a series of extreme durability tests to prove its toughness.
The video, shared just days after the phone’s official launch, shows the HONOR Magic V5 enduring simulated heavy rain, consistent with its IP59 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets. But the tests don’t stop there. The phone is then frozen, baked at high temperatures, and even shot with steel balls—all without sustaining damage.
Despite being a foldable, HONOR demonstrates the Magic V5 as exceptionally durable. It features a 7.95-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2172×2352, along with a 6.43-inch outer screen. Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
The device also packs a 5,820mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging support. For photography, it uses a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter, and dual 20-megapixel front-facing cameras.
HONOR’s aggressive durability claims aim to set the Magic V5 apart in the competitive foldable market, showing its resilience (kind of similar to its midrange X9c) alongside premium specs.
