How do you pay your taxes in Dune: Awakening? The Emperor has decreed that all who make Arrakis their home must pay the Imperial Solari Tax or face the consequences. One thing that is constant between our lives and video games is death… and taxes.

As you get settled on Arrakis, you will need to pay tribute for the land you settle on. Or face the consequences. It isn’t explained very well in-game, so in this guide, we will cover how taxes work and how to pay them before your Blood Purifier gets repossessed.

What are Taxes?

Taxes are weekly Solari payments required to maintain your base. The larger your territory and the more sub-fief consoles you own, the higher your taxes will be. Fortunately, the weekly cost is usually manageable, around 1,000 to 3,000 Solari, and Imperial Tax Collectors tend to be pretty lenient with late payments. But don’t push it! In the early game, though, it might cost more to reach the hub settlements than what you pay in taxes.

How taxes are calculated

The taxes you owe are directly based on the amount of territory you’ve claimed. Each sub-fief typically costs around 2,000 Solari per tax cycle. Owning multiple bases and sub-fiefs spread across the map will increase your overall tax burden, as you have to pay for each one down the line.

Please note that expanding your claim with Staking Units will result in increased taxes. While each increase is just a few hundred Solari, expanding multiple bases can add up quickly.

If you want to keep your tax down above all else, you need to keep your building localised and unexpanded.

How to Pay Taxes

To pay taxes in Dune: Awakening, visit Arrakeen or Harko Village and speak to the Imperial Tax Representative. You can pay per Sub-Fief or cover the full amount at once.

Head to Arrakeen or Harko Village

There are two ways to reach these settlements: * If you have your own Ornithopter, fly to the map corner and fast travel. * If you don’t:

You can pay the Ornithopter Pilot at Tradeposts 2,500 Solari to fly you to either settlement. Just make sure to bring enough for both the flight and your taxes! The fee covers both the trip there and your return, so you won’t need to pay again to get back.

Pay taxes to the Imperial Tax Representative

After you arrive in either of the hubs, you will need to find the imperial consulate. Every settlement has one and is marked with a Corrino symbol holograph outside.

Contact the Imperial Tax Representative to pay the taxes for one sub-fief or the total for all.

What happens if I don’t pay taxes

Failing to pay your taxes has serious consequences. Initially, the tax collectors will give you a grace period to get your affairs (and Solari) together after a missed due date, but you will receive reminders and warnings.

If your taxes are left unpaid for too long, the Imperials will disable the shields protecting your base. Without shields, your base is vulnerable to player raids and Arrakis’ brutal environment.

Be sure to keep up with your taxes. Keep a stash of Solari and make it a priority to visit the hubs at least once a week.
