Memoranda submitted to the administration across Maharashtra and Goa

Under the ‘Gau Samman Avahan Abhiyan’ aimed at creating awareness for cow protection and conservation, detailed memorandums have been submitted to Tehsildars at various locations in Maharashtra and Goa.
Through these memorandums, demands have been made for the protection and conservation of cattle, as well as strict action against cow slaughter. Copies of the memorandum have also been sent to the President, the Prime Minister, the Governor, and the Chief Minister.
Key points from the Memorandum
- Emphasising the importance of gaumata in Indian culture, the memorandum calls for concrete policy measures from the Central Government. gaumata is regarded as a central part of faith and lifestyle, with significant importance in the rural economy, agriculture, and environmental balance.
- At present, cattle are facing threats due to factors such as groundwater depletion, pollution, slaughter, and other challenges. A uniform national policy is needed for their protection. It also refers to Article 48 of the Indian Constitution, which directs the state to take steps for cattle preservation.
- Major demands include implementing effective measures for cattle conservation nationwide, enforcing strict action against cow slaughter, and strengthening legal provisions for protection. There is also a demand to consider granting cattle the status of a legal entity and to establish a separate Central Ministry for cattle welfare to ensure uniform and effective policy implementation across the country.
- The campaign highlights participation from Saints, devotees of gaumata, and various social organisations. Citizens across the country have been urged to support and join this movement.
