Another week, another new flagship camera phone—this time, it’s Oppo that’s stealing the spotlight with the new Find X9 Ultra, which finally makes its way to more buyers outside of China. Like rivals from Vivo and Xiaomi, the X9 Ultra packs a lot of hardware designed to give users a more camera-centric experience, especially in a day and age where camera performance has taken centre priority on expensive phones.
For starters, the X9 Ultra features a Hasselblad Master Camera System which consists of a 200MP main wide camera, a 200MP + 50MP periscope telephoto camera combo, and a fourth 50MP lens. Oppo says that the redesigned setup allows for better telephoto performance, as well as a bit more versatility when it comes to framing, spanning from 14mm up to 460mm, at least on paper. Oppo also offers an optional Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit which provides users with a a two-stage shutter button, a dial for zoom control, as well as a 300mm Explorer Teleconverter.

Inside, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the chipset of choice for countless Android flagships this year. You’re also getting up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, which will undoubtedly come in handy if you decide to use the phone as your main everyday camera. There’s also a considerably-large 7050mAh battery which powers this entire setup, with support for Oppo’s proprietary 100W fast charging protocol.

The Find X9 Ultra is also pretty large thanks to its 6.82-inch display, which does look good thanks to a reasonably-sharp 1440 x 3168 pixel resolution an 144Hz refresh rate, although it does settle for a rather tame 1800 nits of peak brightness. Overall though, the phone is pretty durable thanks to its IP69 rating as well as Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection for the front display.
As for software, the phone comes with ColorOS 16 based on Android, which comes with exclusive apps and software services from Oppo. The Find X9 Ultra will be available in Tundra Umber and Canyon Orange, and will be priced starting at around £1,449—it should be noted however that the phone won’t be available in North America, although Oppo plans to release it in select European countries, as well as the United Kingdom.
