RTS/Action Hybrid Warshift 2 Puts You on the Frontline

warshift 2

Warshift 2 is an RTS at heart, but the game from solo developer Cyril Megem gives players a more intimate view of its mechanized warfare.

Set in a corporate-driven sci-fi universe, players will get into large-scale combined-arms warfare where they’ll command carriers, battleships, drones, mechs, and more on the frontline.

The enemy is a biomechanical civilization determined to consume all forms of life, and currently has its sights set on the Frontier Planets under your protection.

Warshift 2 Juggles Strategy and Action

Warshift 2’s neat hook is that you can select individual units to control. So any time you feel like you need the personal touch in the trenches, you can have at it.

The game promises to let players switch between its Strategy and Third-Person Action elements at any time, too, with the war continuing in real-time, whatever you’re doing.

Whichever way you choose to play, there will be plenty of cannon fodder, as Warshift 2 features battles against hordes of enemies. Not just on land either, as the war takes to the skies, the seas, and into space

There’s also a level of Hero character customisation, with dozens of weapons and upgrades, unique super abilities, and add-ons such as support drones and turrets.

The original Warshift was released in 2016 and featured the same hybrid hook of action and RTS, and was the work of this solo developer over five years.

It makes the sequel a promising one, given that the first game was reasonably successful and proved what this developer can do. The sequel does come with the caveat that AI tools were used for a part of Warshift 2’s interface, however.
