KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th May, 2026) Sindh Minister for Food Makhdoom Mehboob Uz Zaman has taken strict notice of an alleged attack on a Sindh Food Authority inspection team during a food safety operation in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and directed authorities to initiate legal action against those involved.

According to a spokesperson for the Food Department on Wednesday, the Sindh Food Authority team conducted an inspection at Delicious Nimco as part of an ongoing campaign against violations of food safety regulations.

During the inspection, officials allegedly found expired food items, evidence of the use of spoiled and unhealthy oil, and poor hygiene conditions at the outlet, raising concerns over public health and food safety standards.

The spokesperson said that when the inspection team initiated legal proceedings against the outlet, certain individuals present at the premises allegedly assaulted and manhandled officials in an attempt to obstruct the operation.

Police were called to the scene and registered an FIR against the suspects.

One accused has been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend others allegedly involved in the incident.

Reacting to the incident, Makhdoom Mehboob Uz Zaman said attacks on government officials performing their lawful duties were unacceptable and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He said strict legal action would be taken against individuals attempting to obstruct government operations or take the law into their own hands.

The minister also reiterated that the Sindh Food Authority would continue province-wide operations to ensure the availability of safe, hygienic and quality food for citizens, adding that no compromise would be made on public health and food safety standards.

He directed the relevant authorities to proceed against all suspects under applicable legal provisions to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

The Food Department spokesperson said the crackdown against food outlets violating safety standards and endangering public health would continue across Sindh without discrimination.
