Persona 5: The Phantom X has only been out for a couple of weeks, but the first major update is already upon us. This is due to the developer’s intentions for the global versions of the game to catch up with the Chinese version, which is roughly a year ahead, so for the next 6 months or so, updates are going to be coming in thick and fast.
This first update has a bunch of content that will keep you going if you’re starting to run out, giving us more main story content, new Phantom Idols, and a whole bunch of side content to get stuck into. We’ll give you a rundown of everything in this update so you know what to look out for.
If you got all the way to the end of the second Palace and were disappointed you couldn’t fight the boss, then never fear, as this update adds the final boss of this chapter, letting you take on the Palace’s ruler and wrap up this section of the story. We don’t know exactly what to expect just yet, but people who have played the Chinese version of the game say this is one of the tougher bosses in the game, so expect a challenging battle.
Running from today until July 24, you can now get the 5-star Phantom Idols Yui (codename Bui) and Minami Miyashita (codename Mirian) from a new banner added with this update. It has been confirmed that, unlike the Chinese version, Mirian will not be added to the standard banner once this limited-time one ends, so now will be your only chance to get your hands on her until we start to get reruns in several months.
This is a new roguelike-style mode you’ll be able to play, where you ride a train through Mementos to reach the control center and take down the boss for big rewards. Things like Platinum and Gold Tickets and Milicoins are on offer during the Spin to Win Raffle event, running for the mode until July 24.
If you’ve filled out all your rewards in the first two parts of Lufel’s Business Plan then now is your chance to get your hands on even more stuff as parts 3 and 4 are coming in this update. Along with all the stuff you’ll get along the way. Completing part 3 will earn you a 5-star Cognitite Case, and completing part 4 gets you a 5-star Weapon Case.
Shun Kano has been added as a new Synergy Bond with this update, which will unlock via a side mission once you complete the second Palace. Check out our P5X Synergy Bond guide for more details on how to rank up his path. Along with this, new scenes have been added for the following bonds:
With this update, you’ll get to spend time with two new students of Kokatsu Academy in sub-stories rather than Synergy Bonds, much like how Anderson and Minami exist in the game at the moment. Without giving too much away, there’s Ritsuka Takanashi, the vice president of the light music club, and Yota Kurusawa, the captain of the soccer club. Completing their stories will unlock a couple of the new City Life activities – speaking of…
Three new activities are being added for City Life in this update:
Like all City Life activities, spending your action points on these will earn you some combination of Yen, Social Stat increases, and unique rewards.
