When moving into a new space, there is plenty to think about. You’ll need new furniture, you’ll need new lights, having a 12MP surveillance system installed is important (never overlook security) as well as getting reliable internet service.
To help get you started, below we have put together our guide on setting up a business premises. Keep on reading for three things you should consider, which may make your life that little bit easier.
Make sure you pay attention to lighting
To start with, before you move in, make sure you dedicate some time to ensuring you get the lighting right. So many people overlook lighting, even though it’s so important and could make or break a space. With the right lighting, you can make your office feel inspiring, welcoming and most importantly, improve the productivity of your employees – which will hopefully lead to an increase in revenue. Try to use smart bulbs as you can control these by your phone as well as LED’s as these are cheaper to run.
Prioritise practical (even when it’s not glamorous)
Behind every beautifully designed space is a solid foundation of practical decisions. When setting up your office you are going to have plenty of wonderful ideas to make it look how you would like it to look. But, when making these decisions, remember to prioritise practical – even if it’s not the most glamorous decision. You are going to have to have storage solutions, you are going to need a room where your wifi is powered from and you will need power running through the floors for things like charging (cables are always ugly).
Build security into the setup
As a business, you are going to need to have some security solutions set up when you move into your new premises. You are most likely going to need a surveillance system installed to ensure all your equipment and technology is kept safe. You will need alarms for when you leave the building empty as well as smart access systems for controlled entry into the different rooms of your office. For example, you probably won’t want to give everyone access to your IT suite, instead make it a fob entry, so you know who is coming in and out of the room – this helps reduce the chances of someone coming in and unplugging things they shouldn’t.
We hope you found this guide useful. When are you moving into your new business premises and how are you feeling about the move?
