Venmo is getting a redesign to make the privacy feature useful on the app. During the onboarding process of the new app, you will be able to set whether you want your posts to be viewable by everyone by default, only by your friends, or viewable only to you. This is helpful in deciding who views your posts instead of being open to the public.
You can choose to change the setting you choose during the onboarding anytime you wish. There’s also an updated flow for sending money which will make it obvious whether that transaction will be seen only by you, by your friends, or by everyone.
Venmo SVP and GM Alexis Sowa say this redesign gives users more visibility and control over what they share so they have trust in the Venmo experience. The redesigned app is currently rolling out in stages on Android and iOS over the coming weeks.
