A recent rumour from Korea has revealed that Samsung is now plannining to change the position of the cameras in the upcoming Galaxy S27 family. The details of the change in the design aren’t clear yet. It’s no news that Samsung smartphones, for years now, have always been associated with the current camera island placement. Thus, the coming change in the position of cameras is really worth it.

However, this move by the company as regards the camera reshuffle will be necessary to enable Samsung to finally fit magnets to the rear of its flagship slab-style smartphones. This is important as magnets are part of the Qi2 specification.

If the rumours turn out to be true, this will be a big development for Samsung as MagSafe accessories will function comfortably with its Galaxy S27 series devices even without cases.

The rumours still state that Samsung may hold on with the whole project in the interim as a result of recent cost issues. This is to say, only the integrated magnets in the Galaxy S28 family will be seen. This too, depends on how RAM and storage prices evolve in months ahead.
