Memorandum to SP demands legal action against maligning national icons

Satara, Maharashtra – Representatives of various pro-Hindu organisations in Satara submitted a memorandum to District Superintendent of Police, Nikhil Pingale, demanding strict legal action against individuals making derogatory and unverified claims about Rashtraguru Samarth Ramdas Swami.
The organisations stated that certain individuals, relying on social media content without historical evidence, have made objectionable allegations against Samarth Ramdas Swami, creating confusion and spreading misinformation. They have demanded that the circulation of such content be immediately stopped and that criminal cases be registered against those responsible.
During the submission of the memorandum, representatives from several organisations, including Shri Samarth Seva Mandal, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Hindu Mahasabha, Sanatan Sanstha, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh, Bajrang Dal, ISKCON, and Hindu Vidhijna Parishad, were present in large numbers.
Key points raised in the memorandum
- It was noted that individuals have made serious and baseless allegations, such as claiming that Samarth Ramdas Swami and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj never met, and even alleging that Ramdas Swami was a spy for Adil Shah, thereby casting aspersions on his character.
- The organisations asserted that such claims are being deliberately repeated based on partial or misleading information.
- They demanded strict legal action against those using derogatory language against national figures and saints, alongside the implementation of stringent laws to prevent such incidents in the future.
- It was further stated that repeated attempts are being made to divide these revered figures along caste lines, which is seen as an effort to foster social discord and weaken national values.
- The memorandum also highlighted that Samarth Ramdas Swami played a significant role in strengthening devotion toward God, the Nation, and Dharma. Through rigorous penance, study, and spiritual practice, he worked extensively toward social awakening.
- He also contributed to the organizational efforts for the revival of Dharma and the nation, establishing over 1,100 ‘Mathas’ (spiritual centres) across the country. His work is regarded as complementary to the establishment of Hindavi Swarajya by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, as historical references indicate a deep mutual respect between the two.
