Ruby Rose made headlines in April 2026 after accusing Katy Perry of sexual assault.
In a series of Threads posts, Rose alleged that Perry “assaulted” her during a night out in Melbourne, Australia, 20 years ago when the Orange Is the New Black actress was in her early 20s.
Rose claimed that she “threw up” on Perry after the alleged incident but never told anyone because Perry said she’d help her obtain her U.S. visa.
“It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly,” Rose claimed in one post. “Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”
Perry, for her part, denied the allegations, telling Us Weekly in a statement that Rose’s claims were “categorically false.”

What Sparked Ruby Rose Coming Forward About Her Alleged Attack?
Ruby Rose made her initial comment via Threads on April 12, after seeing a social media post about Katy Perry’s reaction to Justin Bieber’s 2026 Coachella set one day prior. In the post, Perry joked, “Thank God he has [YouTube] premium. Don’t wanna see no ads,” referring to Bieber scrolling through YouTube as part of his set display.
What Did Ruby Rose Accuse Katy Perry of Doing?
“Katy Perry sexual [sic] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks [about Justin Bieber’s Coachella set],” Ruby Rose claimed via Threads on April 12. “After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it.”
The Pitch Perfect 3 actress alleged that “later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by … Everyone.”
When one Threads user made a joke that, “She kissed a girl and you didn’t like it?” referring to Katy Perry’s hit 2008 song “I Kissed a Girl,” Rose claimed the alleged incident involved much more than a kiss.
“She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted [sic] on her,” Rose claimed.
Has Ruby Rose Gone to the Police?
Ruby Rose initially claimed in her Threads post on April 12 that she was “not interested in filing a report over this, not when I haven’t even filed a report for the numerous rapes at the hands of grown men.”
The Australian actress noted that Katy Perry was “more than welcome to sue me,” but alleged that the singer “won’t” because according to Rose the incident did, in fact, happen, which would make any legal action for libel or slander futile.
“I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people,” Rose claimed. “Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”
Hours later, Rose announced via Threads that she would be “walking into a police station to see if any of my experiences can be investigated.”
She later confirmed she spoke to authorities, writing, “I did it,” before telling one user that she had officially left the police station.
“If any good witches, or spirit folk, feel so generous as to cast a few protective spells around me, it would be greatly appreciated,” Rose wrote. “I said names inside the station that hold much more power than me and frankly, freak me out. I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations. I do however want to assure people that I am in no way suicidal, if you know what I mean. Nor do I take drugs, or have any health conditions.”

Club Manager Speaks Out After Ruby Rose’s Claims About Katy Perry
A former manager at Melbourne’s Spice Market has spoken out about the night in 2010 when Ruby Rose claimed Katy Perry sexually assaulted her. In an interview with the Herald Sun, the unnamed man recalled Rose and Perry arriving at the club together with a few other friends, but he emphasized that he did not witness any alleged assault because the group was in a roped-off area of the hotspot.
“It was a security nightmare because there were 600 people there, and Katy kept coming out and dancing with everybody and going right in the middle of the mosh pit,” he explained. “[Rose and Perry] were drunk; they weren’t paralytic or anything, just like any other person drinking at a nightclub.”
The former boss added that management knew Perry and Rose were public figures and “didn’t want someone taking photos of them drunk like that,” so the women were escorted out of a back fire exit and into the same car. He said he believed they were headed to a hotel.
