By eliminating middleware, a new integration approach points toward surveillance systems that are easier to scale, manage and adapt over time.

Matrix has announced native integration of its network cameras with Milestone Systems’ XProtect video management software, enabling direct interoperability within open surveillance architectures. The integration has been officially verified and listed under Milestone’s Supported Devices List, offering independent confirmation of compatibility for system integrators, consultants and enterprise users.
The integration allows the cameras to operate within the XProtect environment without requiring additional middleware, plugins or custom development. This simplifies deployment and reduces integration complexity, particularly in large or multi-site surveillance environments. Operators can access live and recorded video streams directly through the interface, along with control over camera features such as pan, tilt and zoom. The setup is also designed to support continuous recording and high-throughput scenarios, which are common in enterprise and city-scale deployments.
The new feature supports more scalable and adaptable surveillance systems. Organisations can expand deployments over time or integrate new devices into existing infrastructures without significant reconfiguration. This flexibility is particularly relevant for environments where operational requirements evolve over long periods, such as campuses, industrial facilities or urban surveillance networks. The approach also helps reduce dependency on proprietary ecosystems, allowing users to build systems aligned with open architecture principles.
The verified compatibility through Milestone’s Technology Partner Program provides an additional layer of assurance for long-term deployments. It enables faster implementation while lowering the risk associated with system integration. The ability to combine hardware and software from different vendors within a unified framework also supports design flexibility and future scalability.

“Enterprise surveillance systems are expected to operate reliably for years, often across changing requirements,” said Tarun Sharma, Senior Vice President, Marketing at Matrix. “Our integration with XProtect ensures customers can design systems that remain scalable and adaptable over time.”
