Android manufacturers are known to specify the duration for which their devices will continue to receive updates. With Apple, it’s different. You can’t tell when a model will stop getting updated. A new leak suggests that four iPhones that received iOS 26 won’t be eligible for iOS 27.
According to a post from Momentary Digital on Weibo, the list of phones that will get iOS 27 includes everything from the iPhone 12 series onwards supposedly in line for the update. This means the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone SE (2020) are excluded, even though they all run iOS 26.
This is not coming as a surprise. The iPhone 11 series has been around for about seven years old while the iPhone SE (2020) has been around for about six years. This change would mean Apple dropping support for iPhones two years in a row. The iPhone XS line stopped getting updates last year, which is unlike Apple that isn’t known for stopping support for phones every year.
Until Apple confirms this, it still remains a rumour, a plausible one at that. This might be a cue to iPhone 11 or iPhone SE (2020) users to upgrade. iOS 27 is expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2026 on June 8, so we might learn for sure which phones will support it then. The finished software will likely launch in September.
