ASUS stepped away from smartphones at the start of this year, pausing both the Zenfone and ROG Phone lineups with no new Android handsets planned for 2026. Turns out they’ve been busy with something else. Leaked renders published by Android Headlines give us our first real look at the ASUS Pad. It’s a brand new Android tablet, and it looks like ASUS is serious about getting back into the consumer device game.
The renders show a clean, modern design: thin uniform bezels on all four sides, a metal frame with slightly curved edges, and a flat back panel. There’s a small camera island in the top corner housing a single lens and an LED flash. At a reported 6.5mm thin and 523g, it sits right in line with other premium tablets on the market in terms of portability.
What the leak says about specs
According to the leaked details, the ASUS Pad reportedly packs a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, and Dolby Atmos through a stereo speaker setup. Dual-layer OLED is a technology more commonly found on high-end devices like the iPad Pro. If the spec holds up, it would give the ASUS Pad one of the stronger displays in the Android tablet space. The battery reportedly sits at 9,000mAh with fast charging. However, we don’t know the charging speeds for now.
The leak also includes images of what appears to be an official case. It’s a transparent design with a multi-angle origami-style folding stand built into the back, letting you prop the tablet up in both portrait and landscape at different angles. It’s a practical accessory, and the fact that ASUS appears to have one ready hints the launch may not be too far off.
No chipset, pricing, availability, or launch date has surfaced yet. ASUS hasn’t said a word officially. But given that the ASUS Pad is reportedly their first standalone Android tablet since the ZenPad line went quiet nearly a decade ago, there’s clearly more to come.
